Take a Class


All classes take place at the Holly Springs Cultural Center on Saturday, February 4th (except where noted).

To register for a Festival class:

  • Stop by any Parks & Recreation facility to register in person.
  • Go online to www.recconnect.us and log in to your Parks & Recreation account. If you do not have an account, click the “Register Online” link. New accounts may take up to 48 hours to activate.

Community Dance Power Kids – No Registration Needed

Time: 11:30 on Monday, January 30
A free class for kids in our community. Stay after the Monday Morning Movie on January 30th to learn a group dance. Then, come back on Friday night, February 3rd, to show of your skills during our Community Dance Performance at the Cultural Center.

Winter Watercolor

Circus Camp

Happy Little Birdhouses

Turn an unfinished wooden birdhouse into a work of art using colorful paint and embellishments such as buttons, ribbon and natural
materials. Your creation will make a beautiful home for some very happy birds and a whimsical addition to your garden.

Staging Your Home for Sale

Introduction to the home staging process. Topics include buyer turn offs, turning negatives into positives, understanding the buyers point of view, and how to enjoy your home during the sales process.

Mime Workshop

Instructor: Sheila Kerrigan
Time: 1pm – 3pm
Students learn to create invisible objects and imaginary worlds. They work with partners and learn to: focus on a partner, accept a partner’s offers, lead and follow. They develop kinesthetic awareness, tune into body language, and non-verbally communicate ideas, characters and feelings. They learn the basics of creative thinking. They create and perform original mime skits that incorporate their new mime skills.

Mommy & Me Creative Movement Class

This unique class incorporates active play and movement with props (bean bags, ribbons, hoops, etc.). A gentle introduction to a classroom environment with instrument play, singing, and creative fitness.

Preschool Dance Discovery Class

A class that introduces your preschooler to the variety of dance classes available for them at the Cultural Center. This class incorporates creative movement designed to enhance gross motor development, listening skills, musicality, and nurture the creative spirit.

Living Poetry

Time: 1 pm – 2:30
Spend an hour with three local poets! Write to unique prompts, receive feedback on your work, and go home with new ways to generate poetry. Participants should bring pen/paper.

Introduction to Acting Workshop

If you’ve always wanted to act, this workshop is for you! This introductory workshop will offer fun improvisation-based exercises as well as movement/voice and focus acting exercises introducing participants to the ABC’s of playing a character. Wear comfortable clothing and sneakers!
